The City of West Linn is currently conducting an historic property evaluation of the Robinwood neighborhood funded through a grant from the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office. The project aims to better understand and document the neighborhood’s architectural and historical significance through a drive-by survey of about 560 properties built before 1975.
In Summer 2025, the City’s consultant conducted visual assessments, took exterior photographs, and developed a brief historic context statement for the Robinwood neighborhood.
A draft reportidentifying potential historic resources, recommending properties for further study, and providing an overview of the neighborhood’s architectural and historical significance is now complete and available for public review. The City will accept comments on the draft report through December 19, 2025. Email your comments to lschroder@westlinnoregon.gov.
Recommendations for future research include conducting intensive-level surveys of40 high-priority buildingsand further evaluating six areas within Robinwood that may merit consideration as potential National Register or local historic districts.
The six study areas for further analysis include:
Robinwood Historic District
Cedar Oak Historic District
Old River–Cherokee Mid-Century Historic District
Sha-Wa-Awa Historic District
Upper Midhill Split-Level Historic District
Maria Court Ranch House Historic District
These areas would require substantial additional research and documentation before any formal eligibility determinations for the National Register or local designation could be made.
